Not just another beauty pageant. These women compete on
horseback, are interviewed to determine their knowledge of horsemanship and the
sport of rodeo, and also must demonstrate their public speaking skills at the
annual Queens Dinner. Contestants compete for awards and numerous prizes
donated by area merchants.
Local women from 17 to 23 years old are eligible to enter the
Miss Auburn Stampede Competition. Those from 12 to 16 years old are
eligible to enter the Jr. Miss Stampede Competition. Junior Contestants will be
judged during the regular competition. Special awards will be made to all
category winners and runners up. There will be awards to all contestants.
Miss Auburn Stampede and Junior Miss Auburn Stampede each
receive an official Stampede Championship Silver Buckle by Gist. Miss
Auburn Stampede will win a custom-made saddle and Jr. Miss Stampede will win a
custom-made headstall and breast collar. Both winners will represent the
Stampede throughout the year at other rodeos and public events. Miss Auburn
Stampede is also eligible to compete in the
Miss Rodeo California
pageant. The Auburn Stampede competition is well-known in California as
one of the best for grooming winners for the State level.
